Installation and removal of chromatographic column:

1. The installation and removal of the chromatographic column must be carried out at room temperature.

2. Packed towers have ferrule seals and gasket seals. There are three kinds of ferrules: metal ferrules, plastic ferrules and graphite ferrules, which are not easy to be over-tightened when installing. Gasket-type seals require new gaskets each time a column is installed.

3. Whether the two ends of the chromatographic column are plugged with glass wool. Prevent glass wool and packing from being blown into the air detector by the carrier gas.

4. The length of capillary column installation and insertion depends on the instruction manual of the instrument. The structure of different chromatographic evaporation chambers is different, and the insertion length is also different. It should be noted that if the capillary column is used with splitless flow, the interface between the vaporization chamber and the packed column should not have too many probes connected to the vaporizing chamber, and the capillary column should be slightly beyond the cap.

 

The influence of the ratio of hydrogen to air on the FID detector:

In a gas chromatograph, the ratio of hydrogen to air should be 1:10. If the ratio is too high, the sensitivity of the hydrogen flame detector will drop sharply. Check hydrogen and air flow rates. When a gas in hydrogen and air is insufficient, it will make a “bang” to ignite, and then put out the fire, usually when you light the electric stove, it is put out, and then it is lit again, and then the hydrogen is insufficient.

 

How to prevent the injection needle from bending:

Many beginners in chromatography often bend the needle and stem because:

1. The injection port of the gas chromatograph is screwed too tightly, and it is screwed too tightly at room temperature. When the temperature of the vaporization chamber continues to rise, the silicone gasket will expand and tighten. At this time, it is difficult to penetrate through the syringe.

2. The needle is stuck in the metal part of the injection port if the location is not easy to find.

3. The syringe rod is bent because the force is too strong when injecting the sample. There is a sampler rack for chromatographic import. It is impossible to bend the traditional syringe rod when using the sampler rack to inject samples.

4. Since the inner wall of the syringe is contaminated, push the needle shaft to bend during injection.

5. The gas chromatograph must be stable during injection. If you are in a hurry, you will bend the syringe. If you are familiar for this operation ,it will completed quickly.
