Important points to note during the test of high-voltage test transformers

Precautions for high-voltage tests:

(1) When conducting high-voltage tests, at least two people or more should participate. Clearly define the division of labor, establish communication methods among each other, and appoint a person to monitor the safety on site and observe the test status of the test subject.

(2) Transformers and control boxes should have reliable grounding.

(3) During the test process, the voltage rise speed should not be too fast, and it is strictly prohibited to suddenly apply full voltage or cut off the power supply.

(4) During the voltage rise or withstand voltage test process, if any abnormal conditions are found, immediately reduce the voltage and cut off the power supply, stop the test, and investigate the cause before conducting the test again.

1) The pointer of the voltmeter swings greatly;

2) A burnt smell, smoke, or abnormal sounds are detected from the insulation;

3) There is an abnormal sound inside the tested subject.

(5) During the test, if the test subject shorts out or breaks down, the overcurrent relay in the control box will operate. At this time, return the voltage regulator to zero position and cut off the power supply before removing the test subject.

(6) During capacitance tests or direct current high-voltage leakage tests, after the high-voltage test transformer is completed, lower the voltage regulator to zero position and cut off the power supply. Then, use a discharge rod to discharge the high-voltage end of the test subject or capacitor to the ground to avoid the risk of electric shock caused by the potential remaining in the capacitor.
