The inter-turn impulse withstand voltage tester (also known as the inter-turn impulse withstand voltage testing instrument) is a device that performs withstand voltage tests using inter-turn pulses. So, how do you use this inter-turn impulse withstand voltage tester? Let’s take a look together with Wuhan Guodian Xigao.
Remove the upper and lower enclosures from the packaging box and place the upper enclosure onto the lower one.
Take out the connecting cable between the upper and lower enclosures, and plug one end into the rear panel of the upper enclosure and the other end into the lower enclosure. (Note: Ensure the plug is correctly inserted in the designated positions on both enclosures.)
Connect the power cord to the power input terminal on the rear panel of the lower enclosure.
Connect the foot pedal switch to the high-voltage output control socket on the upper enclosure.
Take out the three output cables and connect them to the high-voltage terminals on the lower enclosure. Then connect the test specimen.
Turn on the power switch; the power will be connected (an internal indicator light will illuminate), and a horizontal bright line (scan line) will appear on the oscilloscope screen. If the line is not centered vertically, adjust the Y-position knob accordingly.
Adjust the focus and brightness knobs based on the scan line’s brightness displayed on the oscilloscope screen, so that the line appears clearly and at an appropriate brightness level.
Turn the high-voltage adjustment knob counterclockwise all the way to its minimum position.
Press the high-voltage start switch; the internal indicator light will glow faintly. After a five-minute automatic delay, the light will turn fully on, indicating that the impulse test can now begin.
Step on the foot pedal switch to initiate the impulse withstand voltage test. Gradually adjust the high-voltage control knob clockwise to increase the impulse voltage to the required test voltage level, according to product specifications. Test result evaluation: if the inter-turn insulation is good, the waveforms will overlap. If there is an inter-turn insulation fault, the waveforms will become misaligned. (Note: Do not keep the test duration too long.) To adjust the waveform, use the Y-amplitude knob, X-expand knob, Y-position knob, and X-position knob.
Release the foot pedal switch to disconnect the main circuit and remove the test specimen. For further testing, repeat the above steps.
For testing various types of motors, follow the JB/Z294-87 standard “Test Method for Inter-Turn Insulation of Distributed Windings in AC Low-Voltage Motors” or other applicable motor testing standards. Select the test voltage according to relevant standards.
