The difference between the DC withstand voltage test device and the AC withstand voltage test device

The difference between the DC withstand voltage test device and the AC withstand voltage test device

1. Different in nature

AC withstand voltage test device: the most effective and direct method to identify the insulation strength of electrical equipment.

DC withstand voltage test device: to detect the relatively large peak voltage that the equipment withstands under the high voltage test.

2. Different destructive

DC withstand voltage test device: Since the insulation under DC voltage basically does not produce dielectric loss, the DC withstand voltage has little damage to the insulation. In addition, since the DC withstand voltage only needs to provide a small leakage current, the required test equipment has a small capacity and is easy to carry.

AC withstand voltage: AC withstand voltage is more damaging to insulation than DC withstand voltage. Since the test current is capacitive current, large-capacity test equipment is required.

Insulation preventive test

The preventive test of electrical equipment insulation is an important measure to ensure the safe operation of the equipment. Through the test, the insulation status of the equipment can be mastered, the hidden defects inside the insulation can be found in time, and the defects can be eliminated through maintenance. If it is serious, it must be replaced to prevent the insulation of the equipment from occurring during operation. breakdown, resulting in irreparable losses such as power outages or equipment damage.

Insulation preventive tests can be divided into two categories:

One is the non-destructive test or insulation characteristic test, which is a variety of characteristic parameters measured at a lower voltage or by other methods that will not damage the insulation, mainly including the measurement of insulation resistance, leakage current, dielectric loss tangent etc., so as to judge whether there is a defect inside the insulation. Experiments have proved that this type of method is effective, but it cannot be used to reliably judge the dielectric strength of insulation at present.

The other is the destructive test or withstand voltage test device. The voltage applied in the test is higher than the working voltage of the equipment. The withstand voltage mainly includes DC withstand voltage, AC withstand voltage and so on. The disadvantage of using a withstand voltage test device is that it will cause certain damage to the insulation.
